PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS DIRECT, a trading name for PE DIRECT, is run by erstwhile and practising teachers, supply co-ordinators and other educational staff who all have backgrounds that include experience in schools. This common cause gives us a very distinct advantage over other educational recruitment businesses, since none of us needs to pretend to know the pressures and responsibilities of working within an educational environment where stress and under-funding are ever-present.

We've actually been running since 2006, though this website reflects a rebranding exercise that represents a perhaps-long-overdue recognition that we now provide educators in almost every discipline. When we began trading those educators were purely Physical Education specialists. Yet today we offer a full range of academic subjects as well as cover supervisors, teaching assistants and more. So if you need a Physics teacher or a Chemistry lab assistant, a Music specialist or a Drama coach, then we can source them.

We have other advantages. And it's worthwhile enumerating them to you as an audience of educators and potential clients - not least because these USPs are in everyone's best interests:

  • NO SUPPLY-to-PERM FEES: If we have already supplied a teacher on a daily charge for a minimum of 12 weeks* (allowing for interruptions) then we levy no administration fee for placing that teacher in a permanent post within the same school. Most rivals charge thousands of pounds for this and it's a barrier to transition to a permanent post that must frustrate educators and makes them unaffordable on tight budgets.
    *12 weeks is, of course, also the qualifying period that needs to be monitored under the new Agency Worker Regulations effective from October 2011. Schools and agencies alike need to monitor this anyway, so 12 weeks makes sense as a threshold.
  • FREE TRIALS GALORE: We organize entirely free day or half-day trials for teachers where a school is genuinely looking for a long-term or permanent candidate. Of course we still pay the educator.
  • OUR WEBSITE has a FACILITY for TEACHERS and SCHOOLS to ADVERTISE THEMSELVES: See the big button to the left of this text. This service is initially free. But, anyway, it's very affordable for subscribers.
  • NO-NONSENSE PROFESSIONALISM: Because the MD is himself a qualified and experienced teacher who has strong opinions about professionalism and quality, we only employ staff with whom we feel we would, ourselves, like to work. By the same token we avoid sending educators into establishments where we'd not like to serve.
  • TRANSPARENT and FAIR: Our rates and fees are competitive, whilst our dealings are transparent. Taken together this means that we will always seek to undercut deals being offered by rivals even before the superior quality of our service is considered. Yet we still ensure that educators are paid a decent wage because we know from personal experience how hard it is to earn the qualifications. And that's critical to us because we've always relied heavily on the word-of-mouth recommendations of both our educators and our clients.
